Let me define what I consider for this honor.  Price means nothing, the only criteria are the actual quality and feel of the hosiery in question.  I am looking for only the best and settling for nothing less when naming a sock the best in the world.  We won't worry about silly things like color, availability, wait time, order locations or anything other than quality and feel.

Material of Ultra Fine Socks

Well anyone who has started looking into socks or likes themselves a pair knows that wool is the go to material for a fine sock.  In recent years the best sockmakers in the world have begun mixing different fabrics in search or the greatest product out there. You'll find, cotton, nylon and elastic all mixed in some models.  Make no doubt these are not your bargain store Haynes or anything like that. 

Cashmere - for the King of all socks

To put it in a way I can understand, cashmere is a type of wool from cashmere goats.  It is the finest wool on the market and in limited supply hence the price.  Also, one of the softest and greatest moisture wicking fabrics you could wrap your feet it.  Who sells these darn thing at $200 a pair?

Zimmerli  - A Swiss company

It's worth noting they make all manor of fine undergarments including boxer briefs and T Shirts.  As well as some rather risque looking ladies wear.

I thought so too!  But hey these were made for the 1% out there, or maybe just that crazy guy in the bad part of town.  Nope, these babies will get about 6 uses before they start to disintegrate.

They are widely available and have a great reputation for a good reason.  They are fantastic at wicking moisture as well as being extremely comfortable. Smartwool has a wide variety available, weather you need something dressy looking or you are going hiking in the woods this is the way to go.  Hey they even have "fun" socks for the kids or maybe you have a wife like mine that thinks socks are just AWESOME.
