Children Friendly Dog Breed, which is the best
First, we need to establish the criteria for how we are going to judge the world's best dog breed for children.
1) This dog must be easy to get along with and gentle. We have a canine that doesn't get upset about a child pulling it's tail, laying on it, looking in it's ears or opening it's mouth to look at it's teeth.
2) At the same time we want a dog you can PLAY WITH, it should fetch, go on family walks, run around the yard, enjoy being out with people and not tire to easily.
3) Loyalty - An animal that wouldn't leave your children for anything. It truly becomes their best friend and part of the family. They are excited when you get home.
4) Low maintenance - what good is an awesome dog you have to constantly groom, children don't want to do that. Equally they should be reasonably healthy.
5) Good around strangers, other rowdy kids friends and those neighbors dogs they catch out of the corner of their eye.
6) Somewhat trainable- we don't need a genius here just a dog that can sit, stay heel and fetch.
7) Protective when they need to be - although we do want a submissive dog to all members of the family and one that gets along with strangers dogs it needs to know when to protect the children. Dogs can naturally sense danger or when their human family needs protection, Parents want to feel good leaving to children alone with the animal.

Tips to Help Train you Puppy for Kids
You did it, you got your kids the best dog in the world a Labrador retriever but want to make sure you train it right early. In fact, you must even the greatest bred dog can be turned bad with a negative upbringing. Lab's are naturally friendly and want to be around people.
From an early age their are a few things you can train them to act how you want about that will really help especially for kids.
1) Dog's are protective of their food and you need to break this from a very early age. Make sure the dog never takes food out of your hand without permission. When the dog is eating get right down next to him/her near the dish and make your puppy stop eating. If they so much as growl correct the dog immediately and take them away from the food. Do this as much as it takes for the dog to get it. Food is yours first and theirs second they shall never take food from a human without permission. You see a lot of accidents come from dogs snatching food from little kids hands etc.. they didn't mean to bite them they were just excited.
2) Barking: Some dogs bark some don't as much, but early reinforcement that barking at every passing dog, human or mail truck is unacceptable will go a long way to making your new family member less intimidating. If they bark and you don't want them to, correct with a sharp no. Make them sit or lay down if they are no complying - then move them away from the situation. If you start this early it will take no time at all before you have a happy excited, non barking animal.
3) Touching of mouth - In general dogs don't like you messing with their mouth but they can be easily trained to accept this behavior from members of your family or other children. A good time is when they are eating. As the master give your dog something but don't let go, take it back. Correct them immediately. If they growl a quick no and swat may help. Don't give up - you should be able to open your dogs mouth at anytime this will also help when your kids want to look in their new puppy's mouth etc into adulthood.
4) LOVE YOUR DOG - keep the dog with your family, walking around outside playing, in the car when you can, watching TV etc.
Congratulations - Your new chocolate lab will love you forever!
